Kyphoplasty / Verteboplasty
What is Kyphoplasty?
This is a treatment for painful recent vertebral compression
fractures. A small instrument is placed into the vertebral
body and then balloons are inserted through these instruments.
The balloons are inflated to restore some of the lost vertebral
height and create a cavity, which is later filled with bone
cement to stabilize the fracture. A high percentage of patients
have significant relief of their fracture - related pain.
What is a Vertebroplasty?
This is a treatment for painful recent compression fractures. A needle is placed into the vertebral body and bone cement is injected to stabilize the fracture and decrease pain.
