Dr. Fontaine graduated from the University of Southern California School of Medicine in 1990 and then completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of California Irvine Medical Center. He has over 20 years of experience treating spine, sports and other musculoskeletal injuries. Based on his training as a physiatrist, his treatment plan emphasizes functional restoration with a goal of getting his patients back to the activities they enjoy at the highest level with the least amount of pain. Dr. Fontaine has special training in minimally invasive spine procedures, including diagnostic and therapeutic spine injections using fluoroscopy and is an expert in the minimally invasive management of spinal compression fractures (kyphoplasty).
Dr. Fontaine is also trained in ultrasound guided injections for orthopedic injuries. He has had extensive training in Regenerative Medicine including Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Adult Stem Cell Therapy to treat musculoskeletal injuries and degenerative conditions. Dr. Fontaine is committed to excellence with regard to providing current and future Regenerative Medicine treatment options to help his patients improve their functional activities and decrease pain.
Dr. Fontaine is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and remains active in multiple professional organizations. He understands the desire to remain active as he is an avid mountain biker and participates in a variety of outdoor sports.
